Development of a nation and environment are inseparably linked to each other. Any development process is bound to have its impact on environment. A fast increase of human population and rapid industrialization have badly affected global environment. A full knowledge of various aspects of the environment is necessary for survival and well being of human race. The practical applications of environment are in various fields, to name a few are agriculture, biological survey, pest control method, fishing biology, forestry, game management, industries, pollution control etc.
In addition to the teaching staff of the College, scientists from other institutions will also engage theory and practical classes. Arrangement will be made for the students to visit laboratories of different institutions regularly.
SCOPE AND OPPORTUNITIES
Many of the reputed industries recruit environment science graduates & water management graduates in their different units. The Environment & Water Management course at Jamshedpur Women’s College provides a degree in environment & water management. So the students pursuing this course have a wide scope in both environment as well as in water resource management. Further, they can join any NGO as there are many NGOs working in the field of environment & pollution management.
Most of the students who have completed this course from our department are pursuing their higher studies in India’s reputed Institutions like Kalyani University, West Bengal; Bardwan University, Bardwan; Sambalpur University, Orissa; Barkatullah University, Bhopal; Shivpur Govt. Engineering College, West Bengal; Bharti Vidhya Peeth, Pune; Bilaspur University, Chhattisgarh; Jamia Milia, New Delhi etc.
Moreover students have opportunity in Environment department of many industries.

- Tata Steel’s Jubilee Park (Botanical Garden & Zoological Park) which organizes Seminar workshops etc. regarding Plant & animal conservation.
- Tata Motors Gram Vikas Kendra – an agency authorized by the Jharkhand Government to look after the environmental issues
- Candidates who have passed the I. Sc. (JIEC) ICSE or CBSE (10+2) or equivalent thereof are eligible for admission.
- Candidates must have passed the intermediate or 10+2 level examination with the following combination: Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics.
- Admission to the 3 year Degree (Vocational ) Honours Course shall be made on the basis of the marks followed by a Written Examination and interview to be conducted buy the college .
- The originals of the Marks Sheet , College Leaving Certificate, Character Certificate and Caste Certificate (For ST, SC, BC classes I and II ) must be submitted at the time of admission with 3 copies of passport size photographs.
A. Candidates shall have any two of the following subjects as subsidiary in addition to Honours Course.
1. Zoology 2. Botany 3. Chemistry 4. Physics 5. Mathematics
B. Candidates shall choose any one of the following compulsory subjects:
1. Hindi , 2. Urdu, 3. Sanskrit, 4. English, 5. Bengali, 6. Odiya
C. Students must submit attested copies of the following along with the application form:
1. Mark Sheet of I. Sc. Examination
2. School/ College Leaving Certificate
3. Caste Certificate for SC, ST, BC (Annexure I & II)
D. The reservation of seats for the course shall be as per rules of the Ranchi University, Ranchi for the candidates of SC/ST/BC (Annexure I & II)
